MOT Testing

MOT tests can be carried out by appointment or you can leave your car with us.

Bedford Motor Services is an approved car and motorcycle MOT testing station.

When to Test:

By law, you must get an MOT test every year once your vehicle is 3 years old (or 1 year old in some cases – check the MOT fees table (https://www.gov.uk/getting-an-mot/mot-test-fees) to see when.

Bedford Motor Services endeavors to send all of our customers MOT reminders, however, you can always check the MOT status of your vehicle by logging on to:- https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-status. It is your responsibility to check when your MOT is due.

You can renew your MOT up to a month before it expires and retain the renewal date. The earliest date you can get your vehicle tested is printed on the pass certificate.

Bedford Motor Services are able to supply you with a duplicate MOT certificate if you have lost or damaged your original, providing the MOT has been carried out by Bedford Motor Services. There is a fee of £10 for a duplicate certificate. You will need to provide us with your vehicle registration number and either the original MOT test number, or V5C registration certificate.

All vehicles driven on the road must be kept in a roadworthy condition. The MOT test checks that your vehicle meets road safety and environmental standards. It isn’t the same as having your vehicle serviced and does not check its general mechanical condition.

You cannot drive your vehicle on the road if the MOT has expired. You could be prosecuted if caught. The only exception is if you have already booked an MOT and are driving your vehicle to the Test Centre.

Class 7 MOT

A Class 7 MOT is required for commercial vehicles with a gross weight between 3,000kg to 3,500kg
